Helen A. (Zafia) Meier

WILKES-BARRE-Helen A. Meier, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday morning at Valley Crest Nursing Center, Plains Twp. Born in Plymouth, April 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Monica (Schashelski) Zafia. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Meier, Sr. in 1998; brothers John and Joseph Zafia; and sister, Stella Zafia. She is survived by her son, Carl M. Meier, Jr, Huntingdon, PA; brothers, Frank and Walter Zafia, Baltimore, MD; sisters, Rose Kuhl, Clifton, NJ, Anna Savage, Wilkes-Barre, Betty Stanitis, Plymouth, and Lillian Uren, Wilkes-Barre.
