YORK- Hedley E. Rutland, M.D., 102, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Autumn House West. He was the husband of the late Grace E. (Bankert) Rutland. A Graveside Service will be 10:00AM Saturday in St. Paul's (Wolf's) Union Cemetery, with his pastor, The Reverend Elmer W.V. Scofield officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Dr. Rutland retired in 1976 as a Private Practice Medical Doctor primarily serving the West York area. He was the oldest living Medical Doctor in the York County Medical Society. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ in West York, served as president of York County Medical Society and was a member of the West York Exchange Club. He was a 1925 Graduate of West York High School and a 1929 Graduate of Gettysburg College. He was a 1933 graduate of the University of Maryland Medical School where he received his Doctorate. He performed his internship at York Hospital. Dr. Rutland is survived by a son, Ronald W. Rutland and his wife Gail of Seven Valleys; a daughter, Patricia Krone and her husband Clair of York; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas H.
