York--Heather Haverstick, 40, passed away January 14, 2017 surrounded by her family. Heather was born in York and was the daughter of James & Dorcas Haverstick. She graduated from William Penn Senior High School in 1997 and was a long time member of Bethany United Church of Christ and Faith United Church of Christ. Heather’s smiling face, big hugs, and humorous charm was a familiar face at York Hospital where she worked for the past 15 years. While there, she volunteered her expertise and passion for the job to mentor and train students enrolled in Project SEARCH Program. Prior to working at Wellspan, Heather was an employee at McDonalds located in downtown York on George Street. Heather was very outgoing and enjoyed traveling to various beaches, family gatherings, and visiting surprise locations with her sisters. She is survived by her Father and Mother, James and Dorcas Haverstick; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Becky Haverstick of Frederick MD, Holly Haverstick of Washington D.C., and Craig Haverstick of San Diego CA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, her Godmother, and many loving friends. Family and friends may extend their condolences and share Heathers lifelong adventures and happy times on Saturday, January 21 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered in Heather’s memory to Project SEARCH.
