YORK- Hazel Kathleen (Bentz) Druck, 97, passed away Monday evening, February 1, 2021, at her York Township home after a brief illness. Born September 4, 1923, in North York Borough, Hazel was the youngest of Harry Alvin and Martha “Mattie” Ellen (Dentler) Bentz’s four children. On February 8, 1941, she married the love of her life, Benjamin E. “Ben” Druck, whom she had met at a roller-skating rink. Ben passed away on August 12, 2012. They had celebrated 71 years together. As members of the White Rose Square Dancers, Hazel and Ben danced their way around the country for 12 years, giving it up for golf in1989. Hazel was an avid golfer, taking to the greens regularly every season, until age 95. She was an inspiration to her much younger golfing companions. She and Ben also enjoyed hunting and international travel. She was an expert at cross-stitching and presented her lovingly crafted work to family and friends on many occasions throughout the years. Hazel was also regarded as an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzles and word searches, watching the birds and animals on her property, and mowing her lawn on a John Deere riding mower. A long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church, Jacobus, Hazel was active in Lutheran Church Women for many years, as well as with the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Her cross-stitch contributions have become part of the church’s history. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her large family. Hazel leaves behind five children: Judy Routson and husband Keith, of Dillsburg; George T. Druck and wife Linda, of York; Barbara J. Kehr and husband Michael, of York; Philip L. Druck and wife Carol, of Sabinsville, PA; and Benn A. Druck and wife Linda, of York. “Mamaw Druck” was blessed with 12 grandchildren, a step granddaughter, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Besides her parents and siblings Edna Heiland, J. Frank Bentz, and Martha Baer, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jeannie Druck Riebling, in 1995, and a grandson, Benn A. Druck, II in 2015. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Contributions in Hazel’s memory can be made to American Heart Association, York County Division, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005,or to a charity of one’s choice. At Hazel’s request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
