Harvey L. 'Dewey' Sipe, Sr.

MECHANICSBURG- Harvey L. “Dewey” Sipe, Sr., 81, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. He was the husband of Joyce E. (Zarker) Sipe. The couple celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on November 30, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front Street in Lewisberry, with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Burial service with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Mr. Sipe was born in Pleasant Grove on January 9, 1930, a son of the late Harry M. and Jennie (Shaeffer) Sipe. He retired as a General Manager at Valley Supply and was a Sales Manager at Drive Kore. Mr. Sipe was a member of the Eureka F&AM Lodge in Mechanicsburg, and both the Mechanicsburg VFW and American Legion, and Allison Hill Lions Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his son and grandsons play baseball. He was an avid Penn State fan, enjoyed camping and NASCAR and was an avid Earnhardt Fan. He served in the US Army in WWII. Mr. Sipe leaves a son, Harvey L. Sipe, Jr. of Dillsburg; three daughters, Jacqueline E. Weltmer of New Cumberland, Karen A. Goodhart of Mechanicsburg, and Teresa L. Wardle of Carlisle; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Dale, Stanley and Sidney Sipe; and four sisters, Virginia Holler, Shirley Emswiler, Sarah Miller, and Linda Barnhart. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, York County Division, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
