Harvey J. 'Jake' Thompson

CHANCEFORD TOWNSHIP- Harvey J. Jake Thompson, 81, of Brogue, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of Marie K. (Miller) Thompson. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 5, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Guinston United Presbyterian Church, 14130 Guinston Forge Rd. in Airville, with a viewing from 9:30-11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, The Reverend Daniel R. Moore and The Reverend John R. Maisch. Mr. Thompson was born in Chanceford Twp. on March 30, 1929, a son of the late Harvey and Maude (Boyd) Thompson. He retired as the Owner and Operator of Thompsons Used Cars. Mr. Thompson was a member of Guinston Presbyterian Church in Airville where he was a past Trustee. He was a 1946 Graduate of Red Lion High School. Along with his wife Marie, Mr. Thompson leaves three daughters; Linda M. Shaull and her husband Dwight of Brogue, Judy L. Shaull and her husband David of Brogue, and Peggy T. Vermette and her husband John of Baltimore; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Shaull, Jennifer Calhoun, Joseph Shaull, Kristina and Andrew Shaull, and Joshua, Sally, and Jillian Vermette and a great grandson, Jacob Vermette. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sallie McCleary and a brother, William Thompson.
