RED LION-Harvey J. Breighner, 80, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Doris R. (March) Breighner. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on July 1, 2008. There will be a visitation from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. There will be a flag folding performed by family members at 7 p.m. and the Korean War Veteran's Association Chapter 178 of York will be providing a prayer and rendering honors. Mr. Breighner was born in Spring Grove on December 15, 1928, a son of the late Harry and Alverta (Smith) Breighner. He was a retired US Navy Veteran and retired from Caterpillar after 19 years of service. After retirement he worked as Head of Security at Harley Davidson and then as a Bank Courier for Schadd Detective Agency. Mr. Breighner was past President of the Booster Club for the Red Lion Marching Band. He was a volunteer Fire Police for Laurel Fire Company in Windsor and he had a private pilots license and enjoyed flying. He was retired from the US Navy and served in WWII, Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Breighner leaves two sons, Michael T. Breighner and his wife Cathy of Red Lion, and Daniel L. Breighner of Troutville, VA; a daughter, Christina M. Breighner-Hurst of Oxnard, CA; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Breighner and his wife Gwen of Red Lion; and nieces and nephews.
