RED LION - Harry W. Sprenkle, Jr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Sonia L. (Wallace) Sprenkle. The couple had been married for over 65 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with the Reverend J. Thomas Shelley of York County Lodge 73 FOP, officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard prior to the service. Born on June 24, 1925, Harry was a son of the late Harry W. and Margie (Olewiler) Sprenkle, Sr. He worked as a policeman and sheriff for over 46 years for Red Lion, Windsor Twp., Windsor Boro and the York County Sheriff’s Office until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Sprenkle served our country for three years in the National Guard of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Red Lion. Harry was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, where he was a recipient of a FOP Service Award, a member of the Red Lion Elks Lodge 1592 and the Red Lion American Legion Post 543. He enjoyed working in his yard and mowing his grass. Along with his wife, Sonia, Mr. Sprenkle is survived by two sons, Terry Sprenkle and his wife, Kitty of Dallastown and Trent Sprenkle and his wife, Nicole of Enola; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, David Sprenkle of Dallastown; one sister, Elsie Martin of Red Lion; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Sprenkle who passed away in 1974; and two sisters, Loise Loucks and Alma Burkhart. Memorial contributions may be made to the FOP York County Lodge 73, P.O.
