TROY- Harry W. Havens, 91, of Troy, PA, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 17, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Clara G. (McClure) Havens who passed away in 1981. The couple married February 19, 1942 and had 39 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Troy, 160 Canton Street, Troy, PA. The memorial service to honor Harry's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 22nd at the church with his pastor, Rev. Garry Zuber, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street Troy, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Harry was born on August 31, 1917 in Troy, PA, the son of the late Thomas Hugh and Edna (Melville) Havens. He was a 1936 graduate of Troy High School, was a lifetime dairy farmer and was an A.I. technician for over 33 years, and worked as both Auditor and Township Supervisor for Troy Township. Harry was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Troy, was an over 60 year member of the Trojan Lodge #306 of F&AM, and was an over 50 year member of the Troy Lions Club. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara, his infant son Thomas Wayne Havens, his brother Earl Havens, and his special companion Frances M. McCain. Harry is survived by his daughter Nan C. Havens of Leesburg, VA, his granddaughters Kristen G. Havens and Carla H. Wrisley, his brother Donald K. (Marjorie) Havens of Troy, PA, his nephews and nieces: Keith (Pat) Havens, Kathy (Renold) Aparicio, Marla (Scott) Oldroyd, Ronny McClure, Raymond McClure, Marla West, Anne Lee Snyder, Andrea McClure, David Havens, Douglas Havens, Joyce Havens, Tom Havens, special friends Doris and Bill Gordon, and Frances McCain's children who were like Harry's adopted children: Peg Cranmer, Kyle Cranmer, Heather (Brian) Manchester with their children Satchel and Jessamine. Contributions may be made in Harry's name to the First Baptist Church of Troy, 160 Canton Street, Troy 16947.
