YORK - Harry L. Halterman, 90, died Friday, June 6, 2008 at Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Janet E. [Seiple] Halterman to whom he was married for 68 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with his pastor, the Rev. Stephen W. Yambor officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born December 9, 1917 in Moorefield, WVA, a son of the late Sidney B. and Eura B. [Kessel] Halterman, he was a salesman for 35 years with WearEver Cookware. He had also worked for McKay Co., ACCO, York Intl., and Schaefer Wholesale Florist. Mr. Halterman enjoyed listening to country music, watching military aircraft air shows, fishing, and reminiscing about the success he enjoyed playing in summer basketball leagues as a young man. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church - Emigsville, Yankee Club; West Manchester VFW, Post 7374; and Shiloh American Legion, Post 791. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. In addition to his wife, Mr. Halterman is survived by a daughter, Deana L. and husband Karl Schaefer of Wrightsville; two sons, Tom E. Halterman of Philadelphia and Jeffrey A. and wife Kim Halterman of New Park; three grandchildren, Sherry and husband Steve Strachen, Kimberly and husband Ron Woodard, and Maxwell Halterman; five great grandchildren, Brandon Hartman, Lauren Sprenkle, Dahlia Woodard, and Pilar and Bria Kaplan; a brother, Lorain Halterman of New Oxford; and a sister, Elva Kuhns of Littlestown.
