Gettysburg—Harry L. Fager, Jr., 87, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of the late Norma M. (Keener) Fager whom he married April 12, 1947. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Heidlersburg United Brethren in Christ Church, 2725 Heidlersburg Rd, Gettysburg with his pastor, the Rev. Craig A. Loewen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born November 20, 1925 in Dallastown, he was a son of the late Harry L. Fager Sr., and Caroline E. (Whitekettle) Fager. He was employed with Met-Ed for 38 years and retired in 1988 as a sub station operator. A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, he was also a life member of the Dallastown American Legion-Post 605, a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Assoc (DESA), attended Navy reunions, collected York Fair trucks and stuffed animal dogs. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed playing cards, watching the game show network and the western movie channel. Mr. Fager is survived by one daughter, Pamela A. Green and husband, Ben of Gettysburg; four grandchildren, Mary Graham of Gettysburg, Amy Kerr and husband, Mark of Ft. Campbell, KY, Ben Green Jr., of Gettysburg and Julie South and husband, Don of Biglerville; eight great grandchildren, Tamyra, Kayla, Megan, Tasia, Dylan, Amber, Hailey and Treena; two great-great grandchildren, Nyla and Aadyn and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or Heidlersburg United Brethren in Christ Church, 2725 Heidlersburg Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
