RED LION- Harry H. (Brownie) Brown, 82, formerly of Shrewsbury, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday June 21, 2009 at his home. He was the loving husband of Marilyn (Johnston) Brown. The couple would have celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on July 6th. A service to celebrate Mr. Brown's life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday June 24, 2009 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Charles Salisbury officiating, assisted by, the Rev. William Sowers. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens following the service with military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Brown was born May 10, 1927, in Renick, WV. He was the son of the late Minnie Mae Thomas. He worked as a nuclear tester for Precision Components, Inc. for 35 years until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Brown was a WWII veteran serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943-1945.He served in the battle of Okinawa where he was wounded two days prior to the island being secured. He observed his 18th Birthday on Sugar Loaf Hill. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Dallastown American Legion Post #605, the Marine Corps League, the Sixth Marine Division Org., and the Prince Athletic Association. Mr. Brown raised his family in Shrewsbury and later raised his stepfamily in Red Lion where he and his wife owned and operated the Red Lion Bed and Breakfast for 13 years. He always said he was a millionaire because of his family. He loved to golf, travel, and have friends visit to play cards. He looked forward to the annual 6th Marine Reunions. Harry published "Briggle's Story" which was about his first 18 years of life. In addition to his wife, Mr. Brown leaves three daughters, Patricia (Brown)Stoudt and husband, Gerald, their daughter Dana; Linda (Brown)Schneiter and husband George, their son Ryan; and Kendra (Brown) Brown and husband John, their sons, Michael and Justin and their daughter Amy (Brown) Childs and husband Christian and their children, Mr. Brown's Great Grandchildren, twins, Grayson and Emma. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his son, Kevin, who passed away in 1995, and is also survived by Kevin's wife Renee' Brown and their children Zachary and Lauren. He leaves his younger son Kirk Brown and wife Phyllis and their daughters, Ashley, Brittni, and Tabitha. He also leaves three stepchildren, Mary (Lucius) Goodwill and husband Scott, their daughters Hannah and Caroline; Alice (Lucius) Smith and husband Steve, their children Phinean and Nola; and Ann (Lucius) Mitchell and husband John Mitchell.
