YORK-Harry F. McCurdy, 92, of West Manchester Township, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, January 19, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty J. (Heimel) McCurdy on February 1, 2003 after 59 years of marriage. Harry retired after 46 years of service at the former J.E. Baker Company at which time he was Plant Supervisor. Throughout his life he was always a hard worker but did occasionally find time to hunt and golf and he was an avid Phillies fan. In his retirement years he enjoyed socializing with his buddies at the Viking Athletic Association. He was also a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in York. Harry was born in Bainbridge, Lancaster County on May 28, 1920. He was the son of the late Harry F. and Jessie K. (Witman) McCurdy. He is survived by his daughter, Faye Nace and her husband, George Machlan of York; a grandson, Joel Nace and his wife Michelle; and two great grandchildren, Baylee and Breckin; a sister, Doris and her husband Burdell Tyson and a brother, Lesley McCurdy, both of Mt. Joy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna McCurdy and Dorothy Richwine and five brothers; Freeman, George, Loman, Harold, and Richard McCurdy. Family and friends are welcome to a closed casket service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd. in York, with a visitation from 10:30-11 a.m. His Pastors, The Reverend Sara Gausmann and The Reverend Paul Gausmann will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Saint Paul’s (Wolf’s) Union Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Harry’s family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Rd., York, PA 17408.
