HANOVER TOWNSHIP-Harry C. Pierson, 84, formerly of Lee Park Towers and Birchwood Nursing Center, passed away Tuesday, July 06, 2010 at Timber Ridge Nursing Center, Plains Township. Born March 7, 1926, Harry was a son of the late Harry R. and Dorothy (Everett) Pierson. He attended Meyers High School. Harry was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII and the Korean War as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He worked for 40 years as a meat cutter in Acme Markets. He was a member of the former VFW #5267. Prior to becoming ill, he was active in St. Peter's Senior's and the Rainbow Senior's Center. Harry was also a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Hanover Township. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Pierson and infant Lucille Pierson; and brother Robert Pierson. Harry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth (Hargraves)Pierson, Hanover Township; sons, Harry D. Pierson and wife Jane, Green Lane, PA; and Paul T. Pierson, Wilkes-Barre; daughter Susan Sauer and husband David, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Christine Wheeler, Katie Pierson, Jennifer Bonk, Jeanine Wilt, and Christopher Pierson; great-granddaughter Emily Wheeler; sister Joan Wenner, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call from Thursday 5:00 to 8:00PM and Friday 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 10:30AM with funeral services at 11:00AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1000 S. Main Street, Hanover Township. Officiating will be The Reverend Michael Erikson. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1000 S. Main Street, Hanover Township.
