Harold T. Butcher, 89, of Wellsboro, PA passed away on January 19, 2010. He was born on September 26, 1920 on the family farm in Daggett, PA. Harold was one of 14 children, son of the late Henry Glenwright Butcher and Ruby Inez (Smith) Butcher. He was the husband of Margareta E. (Gates) Butcher and the couple had 64 happy years together. He was a devoted family man who was always there for his family. Harold was a graduate of the Millerton High School. He had many endeavors in his full lifetime, among them was cattleman, heavy construction equipment operator, tractor & trailer business, contracted several houses that he built, and was an astute businessman. Harold is survived by his wife Margareta, his children: Bonnie (Gary) Pierce, Johnny (Barbara) Butcher, Susan (David) Pazzaglia, Brenda (Richard) Powlison, and Matthew "Mike" Butcher, his grandchildren: Theron Pierce, Lee Pierce, Nathan Pierce, John Thomas Butcher, Lynne Heckrotte, Hannah Butcher, Elizabeth Butcher, Shawn and Laura Clarson, Kelly Corrigan, Alexandra Kent, Kierston Buchman, David Pazzaglia, Joshua Powlison, Vickey Sample, Sarah Brown, and Brandi Butcher, his great grandchildren: Nicole, Cameron, Tristen, Colton, Nevan, Aidan and Aidea Pierce, Jackson and Jamison Hechrotte, Bryce Kent, Isabella Pazzaglia, and Abigail Sample, his sisters: Ruby Tanner, Lily Chamberlain, Carol Morrison, and Phyliss Houser, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brothers: Hazel Toothaker, Henry "Harry" Butcher, Raymond Butcher, Mary Green, Blanch Gregory, Bill Butcher, Robert Butcher, and a brother and sister who died in infancy: Harold and Alice Butcher. Family and friends are welcome to call from 1:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The celebration of Harold's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with his son in law Richard Powlison officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of Harold's family in the Daggett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Harold's memory to the Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
