Harold S. Wales, Sr.

FAWN GROVE - Harold S. Wales, Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital. He was the husband of the late Christine M. (Duke) Wales. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 12:00 Noon today at The Duke Farm, 578 Fawn Grove Rd., Fawn Grove with Rev. Douglas Windward officiating. Private burial will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born August 5, 1926 in Fawn Twp., a son of the late Hugh S. and Steele C. (Gibney) Wales, he retired from Seven Valleys Garment Co. Prior to that he enjoyed construction and backhoe work in the Fawn Grove area. Mr. Wales was a member of Fawn Grove VFW Post 7133 and enjoyed recreational trap shooting. He will be remembered for the meticulous care in which he kept his cars and tractors and was known to be able to fix anything. Mr. Wales loved Farmall Tractors and did a complete restoration on his model Super M tractor. He also spent many years raising bees and harvesting honey from their hives. Mr. Wales was a US Navy veteran having served with the Seabees in the Philippines during WWII. Mr. Wales is survived by a son, Harold S. Wales, Jr. and wife Deborah Wales of Exton, PA; two granddaughters, Rebecca L. and husband Marc Szyluk and Colleen M. and husband Matthew Roberson; five great grandchildren, Jack, Luke, and Madeline Grace Szyluk, and Will and Kate Roberson; and a sister, Grace Linkous of Pylesville, MD. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gardner and Weldon Wales; and a sister, Gladys Wales. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
