WHITE BLUFF, TN – H. R. “Hal” McCalla, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on November 11, 2015. Born in Enon Valley, PA, he was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret McCalla. Mr. McCalla is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sandra L. Frey-McCalla; sons, Michael McCalla of East Palestine, OH, Timothy McCall of Brownsburg, IN, Terry McCalla of Columbiana, OH; stepdaughters, Rhonda Strouble of St. John, IN, Tracey Shetter of York, PA; and step granddaughters. He is also survived by his brothers, George McCalla Jr. of Kane, PA, David McCalla and wife Cheryl of Conyers, GA, Thomas McCalla and wife Cathy of Enon Valley; a sister, Charlotte Oliver of Enon Valley; and nieces and nephews. Mr. McCalla was Vice President of Sales for Tennsco Corp. in Dickson, TN from 1989 until his retirement in 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps First Battalion Platoon 105. He graduated from Mt. Jackson High School, Mt. Jackson, PA and attended Slippery Rock State College where he was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Assoc. and the National Reining Horse Assoc. Mr. McCalla will be laid to rest at 12:30 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York, PA with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 12:15PM Tuesday. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Reining Horse Sports Foundation Dale Wilkinson Memorial Crisis Fund can be made in memory of Hal McCalla at RHSF, 3021 West Reno Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73107, also to the Dickson Co.
