He and Flo enjoyed 71 years of marriage. A Celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 900 Pleasant Grove Rd. in Red Lion, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. at the church. His pastor, The Reverend Terry Robinson will be officiating at the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements. Born in Chanceford Township November 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Luther M. and Mary Grace (Heffner) Gohn. Harold worked as a brick layer for 30 years with Willard Hoffman and then at Formit Steel, where he retired after 16 years. Harold had a good memory. He helped to build his first home and then built many more after that. Harold is survived by two daughters, Elaine N. Druck (Bob) and Diane M. Abel, both of York; four granddaughters, Renee Abel of York, Jennifer Hoopes (Alex) of Spring Grove, Michelle Mitchell (Joe) of Dover, and Nikki McGettigan (Ray) of York; 11 great grandchildren, Bryton, Michala, Rachael, Broguen, Connor, Raymond, Brooke, Logan, Gabriel, Liam, and Fiona; and a great, great granddaughter, Adaline. He also leaves two brothers, Donald Gohn (Geraldine) of Airville and Eugene Gohn (Sherry) of Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by a niece, Jackie Heffner in 1966, whom we cared for after the death of her mother in 1952. He was preceded on death by a brother, Wilton Gohn, and two sisters, Alta Lutton and Norma Howard. He was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where he served in many different positions at the church and in Sunday school. He and Flo served for 11 years as youth councilors to a very active youth group. Harold loved his garden. Flo always referred to it as his golf course. She always knew where she could find him. Many of the vegetables were shared with family and friends. They were grown with tender love and care and God took care of the rest. He had a beautiful garden and loved to feed and watch the birds. One always knew where they stood on issues; he was a man of integrity. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Barbara Clark, 306 Robin Drive, Red Lion, PA 17356.
