Harold L. Blann

YORK – Harold L. Blann, 91, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Harrison) Blann to whom he was married for 72 years on June 4th. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Tanya L.H. Brubaker officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD. Born November 28, 1929 in Pikesville, MD; a son of the late G. Raymond and Emma Catherine (Joy) Blann, he was a graduate of Franklin High School in Reisterstown and then graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics. Upon graduation and while working for C&P Telephone Co. in Baltimore, he tutored neighborhood and church based teens in math, algebra and calculus. Mr. Blann later retired from C&P Telephone's successor, Bell Atlantic. Along with his wife Elizabeth, he enjoyed traveling all around the world. Mr. Blann also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in York and was part of the Bell Telephone Pioneers retiree club. Mr. Blann had also proudly served in the Maryland Army National Guard. In addition to his wife, Mr. Blann is survived by two daughters, Dr. Linda S. Blann and husband Dr. Terry M. Gordon of York and Patricia L. Blann of York. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Joy Cooper. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary U.M. Church, 11 N. Richland Avenue, York, PA 17404.
