NEW COLUMBIA - Harold F. Bud Cooper, 90, died on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg. Harold was born on January 13, 1921 in Milton and was the son of the late Grace (Cooper) Orner. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and served during WWII and had trained as a fighter pilot in a P 38. On August 29, 1942, he married the late Mary Elizabeth Betty (Ranck) who had died on February 2, 1995. He had worked for the Lewisburg Penitentiary and retired in 1972. After retirement, he went into the construction business for himself. Harold was a Presbyterian by faith. He was involved in the rescue mission during the 1972 flood with his boat. He was the original owner of the Arrowhead and owned another restaurant along old Rt. 15 in New Columbia. Harold was a member of the Masons for 23 years and had earned the honor of 32nd degree mason and belonged to the Masonic Consistory of Williamsport. He was also involved with the Elks for 54 years and the American Legion for 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, building, ceramics and high school football. Harold is survived by one brother; William B. Orner of Lewisburg, one sister and brother-in-law; Doris M. and Victor H. Adams of New Columbia, nephews, cousins and longtime friend and neighbors; Michael and Patricia Reich of New Columbia. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton. There will be a public viewing from 12 (noon) to 1:00 at the funeral home. The Reverend Jill V. Seagle will officiate. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics, Inc., 1133 19th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036.
