Harold Delano Wynegar, Sr.

YORK- Harold D. Wynegar, Sr., 72, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at York Hospital. He was the widower of Dorrea L. "Dee" (Storm) Wynegar. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan, officiating. Private burial will be in Yoe Union Cemetery. A viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born August 11, 1935, in York a son of the late Mack Ree Wynegar, Sr. and his wife, Dorothy, he retired from York County Prison as a Correctional Officer in 1997. He was also employed with Thonet Industries and T.R. Taylor's Upholstery. Mr. Wynegar was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed feeding the squirrels before services. He was a member of the Thirteenth Ward Political Club in York, the Hawk Gunning Club in Pleasureville, and Kreutz Creek Valley VFW Post # 7045 in Hellam. Mr. Wynegar was a Civil War buff and enjoyed visiting Gettysburg Battlefield. He enjoyed playing and watching his son and granddaughter play baseball and softball. Most of all, he loved spending time with family. Mr. Wynegar is survived by a son, Harold D. "Butch" and wife, Deborah Wynegar of Lake Mary, Fla.; a daughter, Rosalee S. "Bobbie" and husband, Robert Atkins of Airville; six grandchildren, Sabrina Konnick of Boyertown, Lindsay Alvarado of Geneva, Fla., Mark Wynegar of NY, Harold D. "Del" Wynegar, III of Anaheim, CA, Stacee Atkins of Red Lion and Cale Wynegar of Oviedo, Fla.; two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Natalie Alvarado; a brother, Mack Ree and his wife, Margaret Wynegar of East Prospect; a sister, Anna and her husband, Carl Billet of York; and his companion, Peggy L. Reever of Hellam, whom he loved very much. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center, Institutional Advances, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19111 or Gettysburg National Battlefield Foundation, 1137 Emmitsburg Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
