Harold D. Bucky" Dentler, Jr.

LEWISBURG - Harold D. "Bucky" Dentler, Jr., 83, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the RiverWoods Nursing Center, Lewisburg. Bucky was born on March 22, 1926 in Mahoning Twp. and was the son of the late Harold D. and Iva K. (Perry) Dentler. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (DeLong) who died on October 31, 2005. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before her death. He was a former employee of ACF and retired from Milton Manufacturing. After retiring, he had worked at Milton Steel Supply. Bucky was a US Navy veteran serving as a Coxswain. He earned distinguished medals after five invasions during WWII. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, American Legion, Elks, Moose and VFW, all of Milton. He was well recognized in softball for his "southpaw fast pitch" and was a member of the 1949 Milton Moose softball team city league champions. He enjoyed being with his family; was an avid fan of and 30 year season ticket holder for Penn State football. Bucky is survived by his sons and their families, Harold D. Dentler, III, of San Clemente, CA, Jeff L. Dentler and his wife Maureen Kerrigan of Pt. Judith, RI and David B. Dentler of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren; Stacy Burt, Ashley, Andrew, Chelsea and Lauren Dentler, two great-grandchildren; Reece and Peyton Burt and one sister; Peggy Shellenberger of Lewisburg. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister; Connie Burger. All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton, PA 17847.
