Red Lion—Harlan J. “Skip” Hannigan, 81, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services-Dallastown. He was the husband of Sara L (Weidman) Hannigan. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage on January 9th. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion with his pastor, the Rev. Ronald L. Doverspike officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Thursday at the church. Burial will be private in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born August 18, 1932 in Dallastown, he was the son of the late Nevin S. and Helena (Innerst) Hannigan. He was employed as a tool and die mechanic with New Era Die for several years until his retirement. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a very active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion. He was a member of Red Lion American Legion – Post 543, the Nature Conservancy and a former member of the Red Lion Lions Club. He graduated from Red Lion High School in 1950, was a volunteer with the Red Lion Ambulance, participated in a dart league in Red Lion and for many years helped his wife with her Girl Scouts of America Troop. He also enjoyed walking, riding bikes, camping and traveling. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hannigan is survived by one daughter, Sandra J. Tulos of Fredericksburg, Lebanon Co.; one grandson, Vincent Wenrich and one great granddaughter, Kirra Wenrich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356 or Foresight Vision, 1380 Spahn Ave, York, PA 17403.
