RED LION- Hallie J. (McCoy) Powers, 70, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at York Hospital as the result of COVID related complications. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Powers, Jr. who died on August 12, 2019. The couple had been married for 48 years. A viewing will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion. All PA Dept. of Health COVID-19 guidelines will be followed with a maximum of 10 people inside the funeral home and masks required. A private family service will follow the viewing and will be live streamed on the Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Facebook page at facebook.com/olewilertributes/live. A private committal service will be held Thursday at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on November 15, 1950 in Marlington, WV, Hallie was a daughter of the late Howard and Ada (Morrison) McCoy, also of WV. She was a 1968 graduate of Red Lion High School where she enjoyed participating in the musical arts programs and marching band as a talented majorette. Hallie enlisted in the United States Army upon graduation where she proudly served her country for three years, achieving a Specialist 5 rank and eventually working in the Pentagon as a Stenographer. She attended Empire Beauty School and worked as a Cosmetologist for 18 years before transitioning into a career in Corrections at the York County Prison where she retired from full time dedicated service as a Captain after 23 years in 2012. She continued serving the county working at the prison part time until she reached 30 years of service to the day on 9/24/2019. Hallie was extremely patriotic and loved serving her country, her family, and her God. Over the years she attended Red Lion Bible Church, Living Word Community Church and most recently The Upper Room Missionary Church. She dedicated herself to supporting her children and grandchildren in all their activities and ventures. She also loved to travel and had a special fondness for the Bahamas and Walt Disney World. She was known by everyone in her life as a strong willed, passionate, loyal, hard-working and generous woman. Hallie leaves two daughters, Teressa Ann Sutherland and her husband, Troy of Windsor and Charlene M. Brady and her husband, Paul of York; son, Charles Powers, III of York; six grandchildren, Troy Sutherland, Jr., Nathan Sutherland, Makenna Sutherland, Grasen Brady, Landon Brady and Eden Brady; two great grandchildren, Landon Sutherland and Harper Sutherland; sister, Howarda Danley of Red Lion; brother-in-law, Dean Lake, Sr. of Red Lion; and many well-loved nieces, nephews and other close family members. Hallie was preceded in death by sister, Dee Ann Lake of Red Lion and brother-in-law, Stephen Danley of Red Lion. Memorial contributions may be made to A.L.S.
