H. Elaine Mcfeaters

H. Elaine “Kat” McFeaters, died peacefully at home in York surrounded by her family on Friday, March 2, 2018. The cause was cancer. She was born on November 23, 1952 in Scranton to Sylvia and Harry Friedman. She attended school at Central High School in Scranton, The University of Houston and Pennsylvania State University. On May 2, 1993 Elaine married Arthur C. McFeaters III on the beach in Ocean City, NJ which continued to be their favorite place of rest and recreation. Their marriage was one of deep companionship and joy. They loved adventure and gaming; flyball and raising their beloved Border Collies Scout and Finn. Elaine was an avid reader, loved movies and adventures, and was an enthusiastic conversationalist. She was intuitive and had a unique ability to reach people in a profound and positive way. Elaine had an abiding love for animals of every kind. She was a specialist for York County’s Squirrel Rescue and a wildlife rehabilitation volunteer at the Otter Habitat and Wildlife Rehab Center. Her faith in God was keen and true and she adored her family and friends. She nourished people around her with laughter, love, prayer, and her inquisitive mind. Elaine had a heart for humanity and a spirit of kindness and compassion. Elaine is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Arthur C. McFeaters III; mother-in-law Joanne McFeaters of Newtown, PA; sister-in-law Susan McFeaters of Silver City, NM; sister-in-law Lauren McFeaters (Michael Brothers) and niece Josie Brothers of Princeton, NJ; aunt Corinne Irwin of McKees Rocks, PA; cousin Linda Irwin (Sherry Jefferson) of Washington, PA; and countless friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. A private burial will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
