YORK- Gustave J. Ziesman, Jr., 85, died on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Callista “Kissy” (Heidenthal) Ziesman, who died on December 24, 2006. The couple had been married for 51 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, PA 17408, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard prior to the service. Born on August 30, 1927 in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Gustave J. and Elizabeth (Cable) Ziesman. Gustave worked for Berkebile & Gabriel Monument Company and Grandview Cemetery while residing in Johnstown. He later moved to York and worked as a Master Mechanic for D.E. Stetler and U-Haul, where he retired from in 1990. Mr. Ziesman served our country in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post #791 as well as the 12th Ward Democratic Club. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Jordyn. Mr. Ziesman is survived by one son, Gus J. Ziesman and his wife, Julie of York; one daughter, Callista “Joe” Burke and her husband, Brad of York; one granddaughter, Jordyn Elisabeth Ziesman; one brother, Glen Ziesman of Pittsburgh; and four sisters, Naomi Crouch of Dixon, CA, Margaret Hearn of Johnstown, Marilyn Bercaw of Palm Beach, FL and Shirley Pellizzari and her husband, Tony of Mt. Wolfe. He was preceded in death by twin sons; and three brothers, James and Lawrence Ziesman, both formerly of Johnstown and Eben Ziesman, formerly of York. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N, York, PA 17406.
