Gunther T. Westphal Jr.

York--Gunther T. Westphal Jr., 72, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 at his residence in Manchester Township. He was the husband of Debra R. (Metzel) Westphal. The couple were high school sweethearts eventually reconnecting after 50 years and were married August 13, 2022.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00PM Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito. A visitation will be held from 11:00AM – 12:00PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Born September 20, 1951 in New Rochelle, New York, he was the son of the late Gunther T. Westphal Sr., and Jean M. (Price) Westphal.

He was a dedicated employee and weld shop supervisor at GEA Systems where he worked for 40 years until his retirement in 2014.

An avid NASCAR fan, he also enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors and loved his cats. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion and Hawks Club.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Mr. Westphal is also survived by two daughters, Tracy E. Wilson and her husband, Troy of York and Shelley M. Westphal of York; six grandchildren, Blaine, Devon, Skylar, Haley, Cole and Chanda; two great grandchildren (and one on the way); one brother, Curt Westphal; one step daughter, Abbi D. Dull and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Amy Lindstrom.
