Grace M. Joy

Grace Mary Joy POTTSVILLE-Grace Mary Joy 92, of Pottsville died Monday morning at the Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian Street. Mrs. Joy was born in Pottsville, December 28, 1916, the daughter of the late Vincent J. and Mary Grace DiCello Luppino. She graduated from Pottsville Catholic High Schools, and attended Lock Haven University. Mrs. Joy worked in the textile industry as a floor lady, and later was co-owner of Joy's Dry Cleaning from 1947-1959. She was also a secretary for several downtown businesses. Mrs. Joy was a former member of Saint Joseph, and now a member of Saint Patrick, Catholic Daughters of America, Sons of Italy, and Saint Joseph Women's Guild. Mrs. Joy is preceded in death by her husband John S. Joy, Sr; a sister Mary Ann Luppino, and three brothers Gayton "Guy", Joseph, and Anthony Luppino. Surviving are two sons John S., Jr. and David Joy of Pottsville, a sister Johanne Fabiani, Pottsville; a brother Michael, husband of Amelia M. Luppino, Pottsville, and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Saint Patrick Church, Fourth & Mahantongo Streets, Pottsville, PA. There will be no calling hours Thursday evening, and there will be no procession from the Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc. to the church Friday morning.
