RED LION--Grace Marie (Spahr) Dettinger, gained her angel wings Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Hospice & Community Care of Mount Joy. Mrs. Dettinger was born in Warrington Township on April 27, 1936. She was a daughter of the late Roman H. and Anna M. (Drake) Spahr. She worked for various woodworking factories within the Red Lion area. She also worked for many years a certified nursing assistant, starting her career at Barley Autumn House East. Later she was employed with Manor Care—Kingston Court and retired from Manor Care—South in 1998. Following her retirement, she was employed part-time with Manor Care—Dallastown and Giant in Red Lion. In 2008 she fully retired to care for her husband until his passing. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Red Lion. Mrs. Dettinger is survived by three sons, Gregory L. Dettinger Sr., of York, Shawn A. Dettinger of York and Ray B. Dettinger of Red Lion; two daughters, Betty J. Graham and her husband, Dale of York and Debbie A. Stine of Windsor; eight grandchildren, Kendra Graham, Krystal Ghee and husband, Stephen, Kayla Graham and fiancé, John Altland, Gregory Dettinger Jr., Amanda Cunningham and her husband, Kevin, Andy and Michael Stine and Colton Dettinger; three great grandchildren, Nicole, Samson and Bryanne and one great-great grandson, Trevor. Grace also leaves behind four sisters, Martha Miller of York, Florence Deardorff of Dover, Sara Brownsberger of Lancaster and Margaret Bierbower of New Oxford, as well as a brother, John Spahr of Dover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Dettinger; son, Keith W. Dettinger; daughter-in-law, Deborah Dettinger; son-in-law, Larry Stine; her brother, Leonard Spahr and her two sisters, Edith Schell and Bessie Stone. The family would like to thank all the nursing staff at ProMedica--Dallastown and Hospice & Community of Mount Joy for all their excellent care. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM, Saturday June 25, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Stephany Sechrist. Viewings will be held from 6-8PM, Friday June 24, 2022 and 10-11AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Bethlehem (Stonepile) United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Fire & Rescue Service, 201 W.
