Grace L. (Drake) Lunger

NORTH BEND - Grace L. (Drake) Lunger, 91, of Hyner, went to be with her Lord on April 7, 2014. She will long be remembered for her love of God, love of family and friends, her patience, humbleness and sense of humor. Grace was born in Lock Haven, PA on January 15, 1923. Grace was the daughter of Robert B. and Lola M. (Wolfe) Drake, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Drake; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; a granddaughter, Dayna Lunger; and great granddaughters, Mary Grace Werts and Ashten Kristene Werts-Strouse. On January 10, 1941 Grace married Howard R. Lunger, who preceded her in death in 2010. Surviving are her brother Donald Drake of Grampian, PA, and Donald’s children, Viki (Boyd) Bell of Clearfield, Kenton (Judy) of Dubois, and numerous other nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law Grace (Doug) Cavileer of Manassas, VA, a brother-in-law Joseph DePasquale of Baltimore, MD; children Alan (Betty) Lunger of North Bend, Beth (Glenn) Morrison of Quarryville, Cheryl (Les) Lucas of Hyner, Marvin Lunger of South Renovo and Lynn (Sue) Lunger of Renovo. Grace was blessed with ten grandchildren: Dionne (Greg) Werts of Hyner, Alyssa Morrison of Washington D.C.; Gregg (Heather) Lucas of Hyner, Ryan (Shelby) Morrison of Centreville, VA; Denise (Michael) Marando of Baltimore, MD; Holly (Jimmy) Hartman of Narvon, PA; T. Benjamin (Jessica) Lunger Parris Island, SC; Renee (Dan) Smith of San Diego, CA; Chris Lunger of Irvine, TX; and Dawna Lunger of Irvine, TX and great-grandchildren: Seth, Madeline, Mitchell, Rebecca, Aaron, Marlena, Gabrielle, Dayna, Kayden, Rylan, Noah, Reed, Scarlett, Jillian and Sharlotte. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren and step grandchildren. Grace attended Renovo High School and was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a dedicated member of the Hyner United Methodist where she was organist for over 65 years. Grace loved playing the organ, gardening, and painting. Over the years, she painted many pictures that her family and friends will now cherish. Several of her paintings won ribbons at the Clinton County Fair. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Gideon’s International, and studied oil painting under Mr. Ettinger of Lock Haven. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at North Bend United Methodist Church, North Bend, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Hyner United Methodist Church, c/o Sheila Berkebile, 6767 Renovo Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751; Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214 or the Bucktail Medical Center, 1001 Pine Street, Renovo, PA 17764. Arrangements are under the direction of the Maxwell Funeral Home.
