YORK- Grace Kahler (Hoke) Bupp, 91, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the York Lutheran Home. She was the wife of Edward Harry Bupp. The couple would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 27th. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Ave, York, with the Reverend Dr. Bradley A. Brown officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 9-10 a.m. on Friday, both at the church. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery. A funeral cortege will meet at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance to the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Grace Bupp was born on December 23, 1919 in York, a daughter of the late William D. and Ruth T. (Witta) Hoke. She was a 1937 graduate of West York High School. Grace worked as a secretary for West York High School until her retirement in 1981. Grace Bupp was a past member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and a current member of Zion United Methodist Church. Grace Bupp was a member of the V-8 Club, York Police Department Ladies Auxiliary, West York Optimist Club and the Golden Nuggets. She was a past president of the Lincoln Elementary School PTA and served on other various school committees. She also enjoyed golfing, where she was a member of the AARP League and playing cards. Grace taught Sunday School and was involved with the Girl Scouts as a Brownie Leader. She and her husband enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending the winter in Florida. Ed and Grace were very involved in the Senior Olympics where they received numerous medals. Along with her husband, Edward, Grace is survived by two sons, Timothy Bupp and his wife, Sandra of York and Terry Bupp and his wife, Kathie of York; a daughter, Dianne Carson of Blue Bell, PA; seven grandchildren, Kayla Elaine Krebs and her husband, Robert, Kelsey Elise Bupp, Troy Allen Bupp and his wife, Jera Marie, Trent Aaron Bupp, Tracey Anne Elder and her husband, Andrew, Gordon Louis Carson, Jr. and his wife, Tracey and John Edward Carson; and four great grandchildren.
