Grace I. (Snyder) Stough

YORK- Grace I. (Snyder) Stough, 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Cletus L. Stough, who passed away on October 13, 1997. The couple had wed on October 26, 1946. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010 at St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with her pastor, Lisa Hair officiating. Viewings will be from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York and from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Monday. Burial will follow the service at St. Jacobs Union Cemetery. Mrs. Stough was born on November 23, 1926 in York Twp., a daughter of the late Martin L. and Katie M. (Sharp) Snyder. She worked as a housekeeper at York Hospital and Apple hill until her retirement in 1997. After retiring, she volunteered at the hospital until 2008. Mrs. Stough was a member of St Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mrs. Stough enjoyed volunteering at York Hospital. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Croll's Union Sunday School. She loved making homemade cards and putting together 1000 piece puzzles. Most importantly she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Stough is survived by two sons, Leroy Stough and his wife, Maria Esthela of Thomasville and Stuart Stough of York; four daughters, Betty Mitchell of York, Lucille Ritz of Stewartstown, Linda Hoke and her husband, Donald of York, and Susan Gunnet of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren, Wendy, Dale, Kathleen, Kevin, Jeffrey, Scott, Amanda, Jeremiah, Jessica, and Lori; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two brothers, Charles Snyder of York and George Snyder of Spring Grove; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one grandchild, Ricky Mitchell; four brothers, Roy Snyder, Luther Snyder, Paul Snyder and Clare Snyder; and three sisters, Anna Eberly, Mary Copenheaver, and Esther Snyder.
