Gordon Russell Workman, Sr.

RED LION - Gordon Russell Workman, Sr., 87, formerly of Ellsworth, ME; passed away Monday, February 09, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Carmel P. (Marino) Workman to whom he was married for 64 years. Funeral services and burial will be private. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born February 14, 1921 in Prospect Harbor, ME a son of the late John and Daisy (Myrick) Workman, he had been the store manager for A & P Grocery Store in Ellsworth and Long Island, as well as, Dunbar's Store in Sullivan, ME. Mr. Workman was a member and former commander of Frank E. Whitmore, Post 63 American Legion in Ellsworth; Red Lion American Legion; Disabled American Veterans, Hanover Chapter 11; and had served on the Civilian Air Patrol. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. In addition to his wife, Mr. Workman is survived by a daughter, Annetta and husband Dale Zea, Sr. of Red Lion; four sons, John and wife Linda Workman of Las Vegas, NV, Daniel and wife Kathy Workman of Bokeelia, FL, Lawrence and wife Juanita Workman of Searsport, ME, and Gordon Workman, Jr. and wife Melinda of Ellsworth; 11 grandchildren, Robert and wife Michelle Workman, Michael Workman, Lisa Gordon, Daniel Workman, Jr., Jennifer Tuttle, Kaylynn and Amy Billings, Dale W. Zea, Jr. and wife Amy, Susan Zea, and Andrea and Renee Workman; 13 great grandchildren; a brother in law, Francis and wife Patricia Marino of New Smyrna Beach, FL; a sister in law, Lee Marino of Clearwater, FL; five special nieces and nephews, Ann Smith, Janice Myrick, Norman Workman and spouses; Blaise Marino, Jr., and Donna Marino. He was preceded in death by a brother, Allison and wife Marie Workman; and a brother in law, Blaise Marino. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
