WILLIAMSPORT - Gordon Rudolph Wenzel, 98, died on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Gordon was born on November 16, 1915 in Germania and was the son of the late Rudolph Charles and Emma Josephine (Thomke) Wenzel. He had married the former Margaret Louise Mitstifer on October 24, 1939 and they had nearly 68 happy years together before she died on August 31, 2007. Gordon was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School and had worked most of his adult life at Hoyer’s Photo Supply and retired from there. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as Elder of the East Williamsport Congregation. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and photography. He was very devoted to his family and spent a great deal of time with volunteer work for Bible Education. Gordon is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Raymond G. and Michelle Wenzel of S. Williamsport, one daughter and son-in-law; Lorraine F. and Charles Snyder of Williamsport, one grandson; Gordon R. Wenzel and his wife Cheryl of Lewisburg, one granddaughter-in-law; Dorothy Wenzel and one great-granddaughter; Sierra Alexandria Wenzel of Lewisburg. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson; Christopher J. Wenzel and two brothers; Roland and Arnold Wenzel. There will be a memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 773 Cemetery Road, Williamsport. Arrangements are being handled by Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
