York—Gordon B. Wecker, 93, died Wednesday January 23, 2013 at his residence in W. Manchester Township. He was the husband of Doris S. (Spring) Wecker. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage on May 6, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with the Rev. David Danneberger officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with a flag presentation ceremony provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born May 19, 1919 in York, he was a son of the late Philip A. and Lulu B. (Bott) Wecker. He graduated from William Penn Senior High School in 1936 and later attended business school. He was employed with Precision Components, formerly Allis-Chalmers as a quality assurance manager for 45 years until his retirement in 1983. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was a life member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a church trustee and held various other offices. He was an avid sports fan, played baseball, basketball and golf in many York area leagues and was a member of Allis-Chalmers Quarter Century Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wecker is also survived by one son, Steven G. Wecker of Manchester; one daughter, Jan Wecker Metzler of York and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Philip E. Wecker. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West York Ambulance Club, 320 E.
