WILLIAMSPORT - Goldy M. (Clopman) Finkelstein, 87, died on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Valley View Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late Max E. Finkelstein who had died July 24, 1996. Goldy was born on October 29, 1920 in Massena, New York and was a daughter of the late Louis and Sarah Rebecca (Landsman) Clopman. She had earned a Bachelor degree from Albany Teacher's College and a Master's from Mansfield. She was employed for 18 years by the Williamsport Area School District as a reading specialist and had also volunteered at the Divine Providence Hospital for over 20 years. Goldy was a member of the Ohev Sholom Congregation and of the sisterhood of the synagogue. Goldy also loved to play Mah-Jongg. Goldy is survived by one daughter; Paula D. Kohl of San Clemente, CA, one granddaughter; Lindsay Rebecca Kohl of San Clemente, CA and one brother; Harry S. Clopman of Massena, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother; Simon Clopman and one sister; Rose Greenblatt. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 07, 2008 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. Burial will follow in the Ohev Sholom Cemetery with her spiritual leader, Rabbi Mac Portal officiating. In keeping with Jewish tradition, there will be no viewing and no flowers. Memorial contributions in memory of Goldy may be made to the James V. Brown Library, 19 East 4th Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
