Gloria Y. Grove

RED LION – Gloria Y. Grove, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at York Hospital. Born July 17, 1937 in Windsor Twp., a daughter of the late Carl E. and Maggie Mae (Knisely) Grove; she was a 1955 graduate of Red Lion Area High School and Thompson’s Business School. Gloria served as Church Secretary at Bethany Church in Red Lion for over 40 years until her retirement. She was a member of Red Lion Zion U.M. Church, Red Lion Business and Professional Women’s organization, Red Lion Historical Society, Faith Beyond Pews, Compassion York, and Servants, Inc. Ms. Grove loved spending time with her family, reading, sewing, playing cards with her Longstown Village friends, luncheons with her girlfriends, volunteering her time at her Church and previously at the Felton Fire Hall. Gloria also enjoyed tending to her African violets, canning fruits and vegetables from the family “truck patch”, baking and was known for her delicious coconut crème pies, fruit salad and broccoli salad. Ms. Grove is survived by her brother, Ronald. E. “Jack” Grove and his wife Nancy of Red Lion; two nieces, Vicki L. Grove and her significant other Bobby Fetrow of Lancaster, Jamie Huson and her husband Steve of Red Lion, and nephew Scott Runkle and his wife Brita of Red Lion; four great nieces and nephews; and a great great nephew. She was preceded in death by a brother, William S. Grove and a sister, Nancy L. Runkle. Gloria’s wishes were for a private graveside service at Red Lion Zion U.M. Cemetery with her Pastor John Kurtz officiating. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
