Gloria Rich

POTTSVILLE - Gloria Rich, 89, died Friday morning at her home. Born in Minersville, on June 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Helen Seaman Rich. She was a 1939 graduate of Pottsville High School. After high school, Gloria went to Simmons College in Boston MA, where she graduated in 1943 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a member of Saint Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. Before retiring, she was employed by the Gilberton Coal Company and WPAM radio. She was an officer and director of the Reading Anthracite Coal Company, Pottsville. Gloria established educational funds in memory of her late son for students in Schuylkill County. Gloria was a member of various bridge clubs. In addition to her parents, her son, John Toby Curran, preceded her in death. Surviving Gloria are: two daughters, Maria, wife of James Cantwell and Caroline Curran; three grandchildren, Rachel Cantwell, Christina Cantwell and Julia Cantwell; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM from Saint Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends may call at the church from 10 AM until time of Mass. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville, is handling the arrangements.
