TROY- Gloria J. (Bailey) “Nana” Ripley, 73, of Troy, PA, departed to be with the love of her life Gerald R. “Rip” Ripley, on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. She was the loving wife of the late Gerald R. “Rip” Ripley who passed away on March 20, 2003. The couple married December 26, 1965 and had 37 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Gloria’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19th at the funeral home with Rev. Garry Zuber of the First Baptist Church of Troy officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Gloria was born on August 8, 1940 in Troy, daughter of the late Orson and Agnes (Hassen) Bailey. She was a Troy Area High School graduate and earned her Certificate of Training in Management of Small Business from Mansfield State College. Gloria retired from the First Bank of Troy where she was Director of Personnel, Tax, Financial and Bookkeeping services. After she went on to work for Gary Horning as a bookkeeper and had her own business, Ripley’s Bookkeeping Service. Gloria was a member of The National Association for Female Executives, was a member of both VFW Post 8675 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 49. Gloria thoroughly enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren, they were her passion and she was theirs. She enjoyed dancing, listening to Country Music, spending time on her computers, her “men in uniform”, she also loved “Buffalo” and Mount Rushmore. Gloria is survived by her sons; Douglas Lee Ripley and wife Karen, Timothy James Ripley and wife Teresa, Thomas Edward Ripley and wife Kim, and Trey Robert Ripley and wife Linda, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her brother Harlan E. Bailey and wife Dawn, sister-in-law Pat Bailey, brother-in-law Charles Bates, special relatives Donnie Ripley and his wife Carol and Betty Shedden and husband Lynn, along with her special friends; Deb LeVan, Beth Cole, Marianne Everts, Leona Garrison, and Chuck and Galva Losey. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, her brother Maxwell E. Bailey and wife Ruth, sisters Margaret “Peggy” Brown and Patricia Bates and husband Charles, brother-in-law Earl Ripley and wife Liz, and sister-in-law Velma Collum and husband Charlie.
