Glenwood Harlacher

DOVER – Glenwood Harlacher, 88, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Manor Care North. He was the husband of the late Madalyn M. (Miller) Harlacher. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 14, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Chaplain Wesley S. Mast officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born March 16, 1926 in Dover a son of the late Charles and Mary (Bechtel) Harlacher, he was a 1944 graduate of Dover High School. Mr. Harlacher retired from M.L. Wehler Interior Design after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Dover United Church of Christ, Shiloh American Legion, and was a founding member of Dover Rod and Gun Hunting Club. Glenwood was a US Navy veteran of WWII where he served as a gunner on the USS Little Rock. Mr. Harlacher is survived by three sons, Brian S. Harlacher and companion Chloe Wigfield, Bradley T. and wife Shirley Harlacher, and Brent D. and wife Janet Harlacher all of Dover; two daughters, Beth A. and husband Robert Geesey of Dover and Brenda L. Olson and fiancé Edward Braithwood of Ashburn, VA; six grandchildren, Mark Harlacher, Nicholas Geesey, Alex and wife Jessica Olson, Eric Harlacher, Andrea and husband Todd Cutler, and Jamison Geesey; five great grandchildren, Jaden Vandermark, Seth, Aurora, and Kendrick Cutler, and Avreigh Olson; and a brother, Charles Harlacher of Shiloh. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Harlacher, three brothers, Robert, Carl, and Clair Harlacher; and three sisters, Virginia Long, Rose Dunavin, and Margaret Gettys. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 E. Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
