Glennaire M. (Ekdahl) Leonard

RENOVO - Glennaire M. Leonard, 91 died in the arms of her daughter at Bucktail Medical Center on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. She was born in Renovo on Sept. 11, 1919, a daughter of the late Nels Henry Sr. and Florence Babe (Rathmell) Ekdahl. She was a 1937 graduate of Renovo High School, and worked as an office clerk for the Greater Renovo Cable Co. and also on the local election board. She was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church, a member of W.E.L.C.A. at the church, and was a Rotary Anns member. Glennaire also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, Republican Womens Club, and the Elks Auxilary. She was active in Renovo Bowling leagues, loved square dancing, cooking, and entertaining. For many years, she hosted the FFF Committee dinner at her home. On Oct. 17, 1941, she married William B. Leonard at Zion Lutheran Church in Renovo. She and Bill spent 56 years together before his death in June of 1997. Surviving is her daughter: Tracey (Richard) Davenport II of Renovo, and grandchildren: Tara, Ali, Erica, Richard III, Kasandra, and Acacia. Also surviving are brothers: Nels Henry Sonny Ekdahl Jr. of Wilmington, Delaware and sisters: Ida Ekdahl Dremel of Renovo, Judith Ekdahl Thomas of N. Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by daughters: Joyce Mase and Judith DeMoss, sisters: Mary and Shirley, and brother: Charles Bud Ekdahl. Funeral services will be held at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 with Pastor Dee Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery.
