YORK- Glen “Jake” Jacobs, 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his residence. Formerly of Brogue, he was the husband of Norma L. Jacobs, to whom he was married for over 63 years. His tribute service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Chaplain Margie Smith of Heartland Hospice officiating. A visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on January 22, 1930 in York, he was the son of the late William O. and Verna C. (Crist) Jacobs. Glen was a 1947 graduate of William Penn High School. Immediately after high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served 20 years retiring with an honorable discharge as a Master Chief Petty Officer. Subsequent to his military career, he was a recognized top salesperson with Sears retiring from the Park City store after 22 years. Mr. Jacobs was a member of the Red Lion American Legion Post 543 and a proud member of the NRA. “Jake” was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and riding his four wheeler. Along with his wife, Norma, Glen is survived by a son, William Jacobs and his wife, Tracy of Arnold, MD; two daughters, Glenda McDaris and her husband, John of Annapolis, MD and Laura Heffner and her husband, Ernie of York; three grandchildren, Philip Heffner and his wife, Christina of Woodford, VA, Corinne Ward and her husband, John of Waxhaw, N.C. and Paul Heffner and his fiancé, Jennifer Lehigh of Brogue; two great grandsons, Sean and Dylan Ward; a sister, Norma Cutshall of Dover; and nieces and nephews.
