Gladys L. (Renninger) Metzger

POTTSVILLE - Gladys L. Metzger, 78, formerly of Reading, died Friday afternoon at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville. Born in Schuylkill Haven on July 16, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Laura Moyer Renninger. She was married to the late James R. Metzger, who died December 2, 1986. Until retiring she was employed by Miller Textiles and prior to that at the Pottsville Mills. She was a member of the Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, Reading. Surviving Gladys are: James R. and his wife Mary Metzger, of St. Clair; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Metzger; a sister, Alberta Moyer, Pottsville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a sister, Lorita Reppert and three brothers, Melvin Renninger, Harold "Butch" Renninger and Floyd Renninger. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 PM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc. 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville. The Rev. John S. Dawson will officiate. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 until time of service. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
