Gladys L. (Geary) Powell

LEWISBURG- Gladys L. (Geary) Powell, 103, of Lewisburg, PA went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Riverwoods Nursing Center. Gladys was born on November 9, 1905 in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, PA, the daughter of the late Albert and Bessie (Swank) Geary. She was a 1924 graduate of Milton High School and worked as a secretary most of her life. Gladys was the loving wife of the late Samuel E. Powell who passed away in 1976. She was a faithful member of ST. Andrews Untied Methodist Church in Milton. Gladys is survived by her son Carroll R. Powell and wife Nelda of Beaverton, OR, her grandchildren: Scott and Todd Sonnenwald, both of Cleveland, OH and Debbie (Powell) Challey and husband Ken of Seattle, WA, her great granddaughters Melissa and Becca Chally, Teresa Wiley and husband Jared, her nephew Skip Geary and wife Rose of York, PA, and her niece Peggy Reese of Lewisburg, PA. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel, her daughter Gladys J. Sonnenwald, her brother Charles "Bud" W. Geary and wife Blanche, and her sister Dorothy Reese. There will be a time of remembrance for Gladys during the 10:30 AM worship service on August 16, 2009 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. The Dale E.
