Gladys E. Mathias

RED LION - Gladys E. (Kunder) Mathias, 79, of Windsor Township, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late Shamim N. Mathias who passed away in 2013. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Her pastor, The Reverend Carl Redding will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Mrs. Mathias was born in Bombay, India on July 10, 1937, the daughter of the late Charles Frederick and Agnes Kunder. She retired from Danskin in York after 20 years of service in quality control. Mrs. Mathias was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Windsor. She met her husband in 1958 and three weeks later they were married. They were married 54 years until his passing on April 28, 2013. She was proud to be the first female driver of her generation in the Mathias family. She was a very determined person and always strived to reach her goals. She loved each and every one of her family members and everyone in her community. Mrs. Mathias is survived by a son, Shah M. Mathias and former wife, Debra Mathias of Red Lion and his children, Sarah and Jewel Mathias, and grandson, Paxton Wolf; a daughter, Shaheen B. and husband Steve Trout of York and their daughters, Amanda and Ashley Trout, and grandchildren, Elias and Alayna; and a son, Shahjahan “Chuck” Mathias and his wife Pam of Ephrata and their son, Matthew Mathias; and numerous nieces and nephews all over the world. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Maqbool.
