Gladys E. (Jacobs) Bentzel

York—Gladys E. (Jacobs) Bentzel, 96, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Philip J. Bentzel. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1PM, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. A visitation will be held from 12-1PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Shiloh Union Cemetery. Born June 15, 1920 in York, she was a daughter of the late Ervin P. and Flora J. (Eyster) Jacobs. She was a loving and dedicated homemaker to husband and family. Gladys also worked for several years in the cafeteria at West York School District until her retirement in 1982. A member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, she also enjoyed gardening, cooking and knitting. Mrs. Bentzel is survived by two sons, Gary E. Bentzel and Craig P. Bentzel and his wife, Gail; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Leona M. Hubley and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
