Red Lion—Geurian E. Hengst, 87, was called home to God on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Esther M. (Godfrey) Hengst to whom he was married for 68 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Monday, November 24, 2014 at Chapel United Methodist Church, 3050 Cape Horn Rd, Red Lion with the Rev. Raymond D. Fravel officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM, Monday at the church. Burial will be held in Heiland View Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born January 30, 1927 in Spry, he was a son of the late Cletus and Ida (Stump) Hengst. He was employed as a machine operator at Warner’s Dairy, where he worked in dairy operations and bottling, and later at Yorktowne Kitchens in Red Lion for several years until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement he worked part-time as a delivery driver for Broadway Auto Parts. Mr. Hengst was also an avid farmer and owned a farm in Crossroads, where he raised cows, horses, chickens, rabbits, sheep, pigs, and various fruits, vegetables and grains. He was a gentle man of God who loved his wife and family. He enjoyed puzzles, listening to country music, attending church picnics and going on walks. He was gifted musically and taught himself to play the guitar, piano, banjo, autoharp, harmonica and the violin. He enjoyed playing those instruments and singing hymns with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Chapel United Methodist Church in Red Lion. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hengst is also survived by one son, Michael E. Hengst and his wife, Esther of Felton, three daughters, Sandra M. Stine and her husband, Steven of Red Lion, Bonita L. Lighty and her husband, Ronald of Red Lion and Lori A. Allen and her husband, Michael of Waco, TX; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Rineholt of Brogue and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Chapel United Methodist Church, 3050 Cape Horn Rd, Red Lion, PA 17356. Cemetery: Heiland View Cemetery
