Gertrude J. Vantassel

LEWISBERRY – Gertrude J. “Gertie” VanTassel, 86, our beloved mother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2016 at her home. She was married to the late Leslie VanTassel on December 29, 1950. Mrs. VanTassel is survived by her daughters; Lorraine Smith and husband Richard, Dawn Holloman and husband Bill, Christine Bradley and husband John, and her son; Brian VanTassel and wife JoAnne. She had 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and sisters in law who dearly loved her. Gertie and her late husband Leslie loved to travel and put many miles on their RV traveling the country. She was cared for by Synergy nurses aids that treated her with tender loving care, just as if she was their own mother. A memorial service at Mt. Airy United Methodist Church will be announced at a later date. Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in Gertie’s name to Mt.
