Geraldine M. (Comar) Funke

York—Geraldine M. (Comar) Funke, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Manor Care Health Services-South. She was the wife of the late Charles C. Funke, Jr. A celebration of life service will be held 12 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with the Rev. Eric B. Stenman, chaplain at Hanover Hospital, officiating. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m., to 12 p.m., at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Funke was born March 31, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa, a daughter of the late Gerald R., and Bessie M. (Farrin) Comar. She was employed as a nanny in Austin, TX, was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and country music. Mrs. Funke is survived by two daughters, Carol Storm and her husband Frank of York and Crystal Wrede and her husband Ken of Monticello, IN, four sons, Charles Funke III of Columbus, OH, Gerald Funke and his wife Brenda of Hanover, Christopher Funke and his wife Judy of Austin, TX and Timothy Funke of York, 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Ellen Nora and three sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Yorktown Senior Center, 509 Pacific Ave, York, Pa 17404.
