Geraldine G. Stroup

ALTOONA - Geraldine G. (Ishler) Stroup, 96, a former resident of Avis passed away, Tuesday, Sept., 11, 2018 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was born April 15, 1922 in Spring Twp., near Zion a daughter of the late Martin Luther and Laura (Sampsell) Ishler. Geraldine was married to Elmer C. Stroup who died in 1998. She retired from Brodart in Williamsport where she worked for twenty years. Before that she worked at the Sylvania plant in Mill Hall and A&P in Lock Haven. She graduated from Howard High School in 1939 as valedictorian of her class. Geraldine enjoyed word search puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a member of First Church of Christ in Altoona. Surviving are one son Kenneth (Dixie) Stroup of Altoona and four grandchildren Jeremy (Lisa) Stroup, Stacy (John) Palilla, Justin (Courtney) Stroup and Dr. Ericka (Joseph) Kalp also thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept., 14, 2018 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with the Rev. Kevin Shock officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the First Church of Christ, Altoona.
